LucasArts used to be the studio responsible for overseeing the Star Wars IP. Alternatively, they can look at this model and take a left-field stance, combining their football experiences with this kind of game. EA Sports FC has always tried to simulate real life. What if EA went in an alternative direction, perhaps inspired by both arcade-style gameplay and Fortnite, creating a soccer-focused battleground of epic proportions. The possibilities are endless.

EA has a lot of exciting games currently in development. A final EA Sports FC title will be released, alongside a few more Star Wars entries including a first-person shooter from Respawn. Sports like PGA Tour and College Football are being revisited, alongside stories in the Mass Effect, Dead Space, and Dragon Age universes, with Bioware using their engine.

It might be time for EA to invest some genuine effort into creating original properties. Licensing in particular has been quite the headache and some established franchises will eventually find diminishing returns. Surely there are plenty of other original concepts out there for the studio to explore.

Once its deal with Electronic Arts comes to a close, the EA Sports FC organization will partner with other developers and publishers to produce officially licensed games. This year's FC 24 entry will mark the final title to release under the EA Sports EA Sports FC umbrella. The publisher confirmed as much in a statement on Tuesday, May 10. telling soccer faithful that the end of the EA Sports FC deal means the annually released sports games will bear the name of EA Sports FC come fall 2023.

EA's and EA Sports FC's decades-long partnership began in the early 1990s with the advent of EA Sports FC International Soccer, aka EA Sports FC 94. in late 1993. The lucrative sports series underwent a few rebranding changes before EA Sports FC 06 reintroduced the franchise's longest-running naming convention.

Despite EA Sports FC's incredible commercial success year after year, reports of the two entities parting ways began making the rounds in 2021. Evidently, the companies were unable to reach a satisfactory agreement about future dealings, igniting somewhat of a dispute that led EA CEO Andrew Wilson to describe EA Sports FC's branding as an impediment to EA. Neither organization seems to believe it will suffer from the undoubtedly costly separation.

After EA announced plans for the future of its soccer-related sports sim, the EA Sports FC organization (via GamingBolt) released a statement to answer a fair few questions. For one, EA Sports FC intends to align itself with other development teams and publishing partners to release non-sim and simulation games. Several non-simulation titles are currently in production and will become available on an unspecified date in Q3 2023. according to EA Sports FC's statement.

The first of such projects should offer a "tailored gaming experience" featuring the EA Sports FC World Cup Qatar 2022. Additional titles and "virtual experiences" will hit the market around the time of this year's World Cup. Furthermore, the organization is working through deals with other unnamed partners to produce new projects ahead of EA Sports FC Women’s World Cup in 2023.

Self-aggrandizing statements from EA Sports FC President Gianni Infantino have also raised a few eyebrows. The administrator maintained that soccer games carrying the EA Sports FC name will remain "THE BEST" on the market, despite EA Sports FC keeping development talent. Regardless, the competition should prove a boon for sports fans who want high-quality interactive experiences.

At the time of writing, Electronic Arts and EA Sports FC have yet to unveil FC 24. The final EA Sports FC-branded title from EA Sports will undoubtedly launch during the fall months, though, with concrete details more than likely scheduled to go live sometime this summer. Given the publisher's cancelation of its usual EA Play Live event, there's no word on when exactly said information will surface.
