The Year of the Hydra launches on April 12, with the Voyage to the Sunken City expansion the Core Set will grow to 250 cards, with 57 being rotated out and 72 added, making the Core Set 15 cards more than it was last year. The date will also spin through Ashes of Outland, Scholomance Academy and Madness at the Darkmoon Faire WoW cataclysm Gold to allow for the new year's material.
The most notable addition in the coming year comes from the League of Explorers, the most-loved breakout characters of the fans who were also introduced in the adventure with the same title. The cards were incredibly powerful that are set to return in this year'sedition: Brann's battlecry doubling effect Sir Finley's hero power switch, Elise's card-generating and of course, Reno's complete healing. Other notable additions consist of wild Pyromancer as well as Acolyte of Pain for a powerful combination of draw cards, as well as the Druid famous Fandral Staghelm.
Blizzard announced that, during this fresh year's content it will be focusing in "sustainability and optimizing." This means improvements to quality of life, such as more stable client stability and reporting in-game as well as useful features such as the ability to use with a random hero skin. Hero skins are getting ever more extensive, it's possible to experiment with them.
The Core Set was launched last year in order to attract new players to WoW Cataclysm Classic, as to better manage balance throughout the entire year of content. Instead of having a single normal set of cards that are in circulation for the rest of time, Blizzard begins every new year with cards from the prior cheap Cataclysm Classic Gold expansions to be included in the Core Set. This set is all players for free, regardless of whether the cards are in your collections or not because it is intended to serve as the basis for this year's expansions.
