What is anastrozole?

Anastrozole for men side effects is a prescription medication. It is available as oral tablets.

Anastrozole oral tablets are available as the brand-name drug, Arimidex, and as a generic drug. Generic drugs are generally less expensive. In some cases, they may not be available in the same strengths or forms as the brand-name version.

What is it used for?

Treatment of advanced breast cancer. It is given when the disease has progressed, even after an early response to tamoxifen, an anticancer drug.

Anastrozole is not effective in women with estrogen receptor-negative breast cancer. It is also not effective in women whose bodies have not responded to tamoxifen treatment.

How it works

Anastrozole belongs to a class of drugs called aromatase inhibitors. These block the production of estrogen, a key stimulator of breast cancer. A class of Anastrozole men dosage refers to drugs that work in the same way. They have a similar chemical structure and are often used to treat similar conditions.

Warnings for people with certain medical conditions

For people with osteoporosis: Cost of Anastrozole reduces estrogen levels in the body, which can lead to weakening or thinning of bones. This could worsen osteoporosis and further increase the risk of fractures. Your doctor will check your bone mineral density before and during treatment with this medication.

For people with high cholesterol: This medication may increase your cholesterol levels. This can increase the risk of serious heart problems. Your doctor will check your cholesterol levels while you are taking anastrozole.

Warnings for certain groups

For pregnant women: Anastrozole is not explicitly contraindicated during pregnancy, but there are restrictions regarding its use. The package leaflet recommends that people of childbearing potential use effective contraception during treatment with anastrozole and for at least 3 weeks after the last dose. You must have a negative pregnancy test before starting anastrozole.

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. If you become pregnant while taking Does Anastrozole cause weight gain, stop taking this medication immediately and consult your doctor.

For breastfeeding women: It is not known if anastrozole passes into breast milk. If this happens, it could have serious effects on the nursing infant.
